Our Program Partners
Partnership with the SUNY College System
Brightway has forged a groundbreaking partnership with SUNY and its ASAP program, providing holistic support to 225 student parents across seven community colleges throughout New York State. Brightway and SUNY have each committed $1 million to this initiative, with the state providing additional funding for all ASAP supports.
Together with SUNY ASAP, our program delivers these essential supports:
- 100% coverage of family childcare costs, on or off campus, net of any available state or federal subsidies
- Cash assistance for emergencies or other unforeseen expenses that could derail educational progress, delivered quickly and flexibly
- Tuition assistance that makes continuing education possible
- Transportation assistance that ensures access to campus
- Personalized academic and career advising that guides students toward success
This partnership with SUNY ASAP achieves two critical goals:
- It maximizes impact by providing a comprehensive support system that time-starved student parents can access through existing, trusted campus relationships, as they balance financial hardship, childcare, work and school.
- It significantly leverages philanthropic dollars by utilizing existing ASAP infrastructure, resources and supports funded by New York State.

Partnership with the CUNY College System
Based on the success of our program with SUNY, Brightway is expanding our impact through a new partnership with The City University of New York (CUNY) and its ASAP program. Together we’re implementing our model in four community colleges in New York City, beginning in Fall 2025.
CUNY stands as the second largest college system in New York State (after our partner SUNY) and is the largest public urban university in the United States. At its core, CUNY’s mission centers on being a powerful engine of upward mobility—a perfect alignment with Brightway’s vision for creating lasting change.
